Breaking: Alvan Ikoku College strike continues

...As strike records 100% impact on day two

Despite what looked like initial hitches occasioned by betrayals by some of the union leaders, which would have marred the entire struggle, if not quickly checked, the strike action embarked by the entire staff of Alvan Ikoku Federal College of Education, Owerri, has continue with full zest.

Our reporter who visited the instruction confirmed that both academic and non academic staff of the institution had down tools and were on seat at press time.

The four unions in the institution, under the aegis of Joint Action Committee (JAC) had during the world press conference on Tuesday 1st of August, 2017 announced to the world that they were embarking on strike action to press home the demand for the Governing council of the institution to withdraw the "approval letter" fraudulently given to the provost to enable her continue illegally in office, despite attaining the retirement age of 65.

The strike action was the last resort, following the failure of the Governing council to abide by the directive of the Nigerian Senate.
