Imo Carnival 2015: Hon Ugonna Ozurigbo of Anchor Point Band wins!

Like every epoch-making event in history, the Imo state carnival, 2015 has come and gone, but the memories is sure to linger for a long time. This year’s carnival, though marred by poor publicity,   witnessed better organization from the Cardinal Paddy Obinna led cultural and carnival crew. They were inspired, of course, by the immense support they receive from the Imo state Governor, His Excellency, Owelle (Dr.) Rochas Okorocha. Eze Sam Agunwa Ohiri and Hon Deacon Chike Okafor, Member, House of Reps The Carnival commenced on Friday 18 th December, 2015, with the children’s carnival. A novel idea which saw kids from various social backgrounds coming together to forge bonds that may last most of them a life time. It was followed closely on 19 th with the cultural carnival which witnessed rich cultural exhibition by the traditional institution in the state, led by the Chairman of Imo state council of traditional rule

2015 End of year cum Christmas party at Douglas House Owerri

History was made on Tuesday 15 th December, 2015, in Douglas House, Owerri, as the staff of Imo state Government celebrated their Christmas party in style. This party is the first of its kind, with the arrival of the young dynamic, hardworking and staff-friendly chief of staff of the Imo state Government House, Ugwumba Uche Nwosu. It will be recalled that Ugwumba Uche Nwosu made his mark as the commissioner for Lands, survey and Urban Development, mainly because of his ability to bring out the best in the staff of the ministry, through maximum motivation. It is a well known fact that in an atmosphere of good staff motivation, there is healthy competition that breeds optimum performance among members of staff which a good employer can explore. Drama as House Committee walks out NDDC Team There was palpable tension in the Green Chambers on Monday 14 th December, 2015, as House of Representatives Ad Hoc Committee investigating Non Remittance or Mismanagement of Non oil Revenue, led by Hon Chike Okafor during its public hearing session at the National Assembly complex, walked out the team of Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) led by the Executive Director Finance, Dr. Itotenaan Henry Ogiri and the team of Nigerian Communications Commission, (NCC) led by the Executive Director Public affairs. Trouble started when the Ad hoc committee chairmen insisted that the chief executives of these agencies must appear before the House Committee in person in the next scheduled hearing session.   Hon. The event which took place at Imo Housing playground, Road 2, area X, Umuguma, had in attendance the creme de la creme of Akuma people in Owerri including Sir. Callistus Igboanusi, Former T.C Chairman, Oru-East LGA, Surveyor Chief Clement Nwabichie (FNIS, JP), former National Chairman, Surveyors Council of Nigeria, Barr. Robert Okwuego, former Special Assistant on Administration to Gov. I kedi Ohakim, Sir Anslem Mberede, Principal, Imo Polytechnic, Ehime-Mbano campus just to mention a few. $2.2billion Arms Deal: Why EFCC arrested Dokpesi, ex-Governor Bafarawa   The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on Tuesday arrested the founder of Africa Independent Television (AIT), Raymond Dokpesi, and former Sokoto state Governor, Attahiru Bafarawa, in connection with the ongoing investigation into arms procurement by the office of the National Security Adviser during the Goodluck Jonathan administration PREMIUM TIMES learnt the two men were arrested at their Abuja homes by two separate teams of detectives and then taken to the commission’s headquarters where they are currently being interrogated.
