N/Assembly leadership: APC leadership jittery, postpones meeting with members-elect
ABUJA – Apparently afraid of a showdown between it and some members-elect of the National Assembly, the leadership of All Progressives Congress, APC, Thursday, re-capitulated on a meeting it had earlier scheduled for Thursday with its incoming federal lawmakers.
The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Lai Mohammed on Tuesday issued notice of a “crucial meeting” with APC’s senators-elect and House of Representatives members-elect which was to hold between the hours of 10am and 2pm respectively on Thursday at the International Conference Centre, ICC, Abuja.
But the incoming lawmakers obviously boycotted the meeting for reasons sources said had to do with railroading them into supporting the candidacies of two particular persons for the offices of senate president and Speaker of the House of the 8th Assembly which will be inaugurated on Tuesday, next week.
